An introduction to the Kickstart Scheme Online Information Session

An introduction to the Government-funded Kickstart scheme and how your business can recruit young talent for free...

Description

The Kickstart scheme is creating 6-month job placements for young people (aged 16-24) who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.
As a Kickstart gateway, West London Business is forming groups of job placements across a number of employers, which will enable your business to access the scheme and benefit from young talent, as well as helping young people from West London give their careers a kickstart at this difficult time.

During this online session you will be introduced to the Kickstart scheme and find out more about how we can support you through our West London Business Kickstart Gateway Programme. You will find out how to apply for fully-funded placements and how the recruitment process and funding works. We will also discuss employability support for the young people on placements and one of our partner-employers will speak about his experience with the Kickstart scheme and our gateway.

Speakers:

Andrew Dakers (WLB CEO) will open the session, answer questions during the Q & A with the other speakers, and provide some final thoughts at the end.

Clara Haglund (WLB Kickstart Gateway Coordinator) will offer an introduction to the Kickstart scheme and discuss how the West London Business Kickstart Gateway Programme works and how we can support your business.

Michelle Guevarra (WLB Kickstart & Special Projects Assistant) will be speaking about how we engage with the young people on placements and support them through their Kickstart journey.

Matt Lent (Spark!), a representative from one of our partner-organisations delivering employability support for the young people on placements will be speaking about the purpose and importance of employability support for ensuring a high quality placement experience for young people, and about the support they can offer employers.

Zoe Le-Coultre (Department for Work and Pensions) will be there to discuss how the recruitment process for Kickstart works.

Barry Bassett (VMI) will share an employer’s perspective of the scheme and our gateway, and talk about why Kickstart has been such a positive experience for his company.
