**Park Royal Business Group Breakfast Forum** 

Theme: Sustainable Food Webinar/Breakfast Forum

Park Royal Business Group Breakfast Forums are a space to network and discuss pertinent issues with fellow businesses from Park Royal and further afield over a cooked breakfast, tea and coffee. Join us either in person or online for our first session of the year where we will be discussing the environmental impacts of the food and drinks sector, future potential issues and strategic interventions and solutions with insightful inputs from guest speakers in an important setting within Park Royal. 

This Breakfast Forum will be focusing on the £2.5 million project to cut food manufacturers' emissions within Park Royal, led by Brunel University and Harper Adams University. This programme will be FREE for all businesses that sign up and will be discussed at the Forum by two of its principal investigators, Geoff Rodgers and Simon Thelwell (more information below). Further information and a Q and A section for attendees will take place at Hampton by Hilton, with hybrid options for in person attendance with a breakfast or a free online ticket for those who cannot make it in person.

Information on Speakers

Geoff Rodgers

Vice-Chancellor of Enterprise and Employment Professor Geoff Rodgers from Brunel University has been project co-investigator of the Park Royal Industrial Area, the setting for the Place-Based Impact Accelerator Account (PBIAA) which has recently received £2.5 million by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). This will be a 4 year project in which Brunel will be collaborating with food manufacturers based at Park Royal in West London to come up with innovative ways of reducing the emissions of food supply systems towards net zero. Brunel will utilise its expertise within engineering, materials and manufacturing including within food supply chains alongside the civic sectors, enabling Brunel academics to engage and collaborate in impact activities cementing relationships within Park Royal it has developed over the past two years.

 

Simon Thelwell

Professor Simon Thelwell of Harper Adams University will be part of the consortium of institutions assisting Brunel to develop a comprehensive programme tailored towards the unique energy, waste and productivity challenges Park Royal faces as the higher education partner of the scheme. Harper Adams brings in complementary expertise in fields including low-carbon food production, vertical farming, urban agriculture, brewing, indoor farming and sustainable business practices. They work closely with food businesses within Park Royal and their supply chains to accelerate innovation, productivity and decarbonisation of the food supply system, both within Park Royal and beyond.

There is ample pay and display parking nearby. The nearest tube station is Park Royal tube station on the Piccadilly Line.
